Guard your eyes
I am a firm believer in what we watch can have an effect on us. If you are always watching programs that deal with missing children, violent crimes, or crude behavior. You may begin to think negatively about the environment around you. A wonderful way to combat that is with the Pure Flix TV app. Pure Flix knows the power of family and uplifting tv programs and has that goal in mind for us viewers. You can cancel at any time and they have recently added a month free trial subscription!
Guard your Heart
“Above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Our heart is so important; it is the source of where thoughts and emotions flow from. If we want our interactions with others and ourselves to be pure it is best to guard our hearts.
Guard your Ears
Do you know that saying “you can’t believe everything you hear”? That is especially true for Christians we can’t believe or even listen to everything we hear. The noise that is created from things that are not from God may leave an opening for the enemy if we aren’t careful. I listen to K-love, Air1, they offer positive songs that encourage and uplift you.
What are you wearing?
The enemy wants you to care about what you are wearing, God just wants you to respect yourself enough to make good choices about the clothes you are wearing.
Meditate
Meditating on God’s words, also known as contemplation is a practice that you can use during your quiet time with God. Sit quietly and meditate on scripture or anything else from God. After some practice, God will reveal something specifically for you. This is how I got closer to God after a time of being far away from Him. I was able to lean into God through meditation and know that my relationship with Him was real. Learn how to meditate and pray with the free e-book Busy Moms Guide: Quiet Time with God
Church
As one body in Christ, we are the church. Church members, therefore, are constant reminders that through God we can work together to glorify His kingdom. Read my devotional Unexpected Hope to be inspired by Christ’s Church.
Guard your mouth
The power of life and death lives in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). When you speak ill of someone you are not only hurting yourself as we are all one body in Christ, but the enemy can use your mouth to ruin your life and someone else’s. Read my Taming the tongue post to learn what to do when the enemy tries to attack you
Guard your mind
Your mind, like your tongue, is a place that can run wild if you let it. I will often get stuck on a thought or several thoughts that will inhibit me from moving forward. Thoughts of self-doubting, future, or the past when able to run wild can wreak havoc on your mind. These thoughts if not stopped can lead to depression, anxiety, and other harmful problems, instead try stopping the thought before it starts to spread. Read my post on how to renew your mind in Christ.
Don’t let the enemy in
When the enemy comes like a thief in the night to try to rob you of your joy, don’t let him. Reject what he is saying and replace it with the truth. Watch the Take Back Your Life Mini-Series Video (it’s free).
