Christian Meditation is is a form of prayer in which a structured attempt is made to become aware of and reflect upon the revelations of God.
Rhonda at the Christian Meditator says it is to “engage in thought, contemplation, and reflection about our relationship with Christ and/or the Word of God”.
So how can the practice of Christian meditation change our lives?

An Overflowing Cup
Recently, I listened to talk given by Oprah where she explained the need to have our cup full so we could give to others. As women, we often put ourselves last. We give to everyone and often leave little to sustain ourselves with. One of the ways we can attain an overflowing cup is with the practice of Christian meditation.
Eastern vs. Christian
The point of Eastern meditation is to clear your mind. Further, clearing your mind allows you to rid emotions such as stress, anxiety, etc.
In Christian meditation, the point is to draw closer to God by focusing on His divine power, love, and holiness. In Christian meditation, we are relying on God and His power to help us with any struggle we are going through.
Is Christian Meditation Biblical?
The Bible tells us in Joshua 1:8, to meditate on God’s word day and night. As Christians, we are to first sit quietly before the Lord. Then, know that He is God (Psalms 46:10). Lastly, Listen and be obedient to Him. There are many verses in the Bible that lend to sitting before the Lord and acting in accordance with His will.
This is when we find insight and clarity for God’s will not unlike many people of the Bible did.
