Our world is constantly bombarded with messages and advertisements that don’t speak to us as Christians. It seems there is no inner peace.
When we turn on the TV, drive past a billboard, go on-line or even turn on the radio, there are messages that are telling us what to eat, how to look and to be more like someone else and how we need things to satisfy us.
We are a society that has a lot of ideas on what each one of us should be doing at every moment of the day.
How many of us have bought into the negative advertisements?
The ones that leave us feeling horrible about ourselves unless we have the shiny new thing they are selling?
That device that will make me lose weight… feel better… look younger.
The product stays around for a while, until the next thing comes along that we just have to have.
We think it will change our life but it doesn’t.
What does change our life?
Having a relationship with GOD!
Fortunately, God sees us as a unique human being designed for a special purpose. The only thing God wants us to do is live for him.
Living for God means listening to his voice when it seems society has another agenda.
So, exactly what can we do to start living for God and creating inner peace?

Realize you need a Relationship with the Creator
God created each one of us different from one another we have different personalities, life experiences and tendencies. Click here to learn why a relationship with God is so important and Get Lost in God’s Arms
There is one things that unites us; that is we have the same heavenly father.
God is there to guide, protect and show us how and what he gives “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
However, he cannot be there if you don’t even know him. “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my father, and I too will love him and show myself to him” (John 14:21).
Relationships take time to build, therefore take the time to seek God and get to know him.
I like to ask this question during my Morning Prayer time “how can I serve you today?”
A relationship with God is needed to become your best self. It will help mold and create the person that you are meant to be.
Create your Family Values
Just because the world has values doesn’t mean you have to follow them. As a family create your own values and priorities that God wants you to follow.
Create a mission statement as a family. We did this, it covered how we wanted to be treated and how we wanted others in our family to treat us.
Watch things on television that promote positive role models and ideas.
Sometimes there are things on TV that promote values that we don’t teach our children.
Pureflix is streaming subscription service that promotes faith and family. They offer a low cost monthly subscription and a free trial.
Spend time with God
Prayer is the life line between you and God. This is how we communicate with God.
We let him know what we are thinking, feeling and going through. With prayer comes humility, enlightenment and guidance.
Have you ever tried journaling? It is extremely therapeutic. I started journaling when I was a kid. I found that I had a lot to say and my love from writing emerged through this process.
A 30-day scripture journal is where you write letters to God.
When I write to God I feel it is a love letter for my soul.
Another great way to help you in your walk with God is Scripture Memorization cards. I use scripture cards all the time. When I have free time I take them out and read them. It is a quick way to get some scripture in. I carry them with me so if a friend or I am going through something I pull them out and read scripture that might be of use in that moment. This is a fantastic way to go about your day and be encouraged. To purchase your own scripture memorization cards click here
